Partial solar eclipses occur when the moon only partially covers the sun. During this type of eclipse, the moon blocks only a portion of the sun's light, leaving the rest visible.

Annular eclipses occur when the moon is too far from the Earth to completely cover the sun, leaving a "ring of fire" visible around the moon.
